சைக்காலஜி துறையானது மனிதனுடைய மனதையும் நடத்தையையும் பற்றி ஆராயும் ஒரு துறையாகும். இத்துறையில் வல்லுனர்களை சைக்காலஜிஸ்ட் என அழைக்கப்படுகின்றனர். இவர்கள் தனிமனிதனின் புலனுணர்வு, அறிவாற்றல், செயல்திறன், மன அழுத்தம், ஆளுமை, நடத்தை ஆகிய அனைத்தையும் ஆராய்ந்து  உரிய தீர்வு அளிக்கின்றனர். உளவியல் சார்ந்த அறிவானது அன்றாட வாழ்வில் உள்ள கல்வி, குடும்பம், தொழில், உள்ளிட்டவைகளைப் பற்றி ஆராய்ச்சி செய்கிறது. மனித வளர்ச்சியில் ஏற்படும் நன்மைகள், தீமைகள், அதற்கான தீர்வுகள் ஆகியவற்றை சைக்காலஜி துறையானது விளக்குகிறது. மனித வளர்ச்சியில் கற்றல் உளவியல் என்ற தலைப்பில் எண்ணற்ற உளவியல் அறிஞர்கள் விளக்கவுரை கொடுத்துள்ளனர். இவ்வாறான விளக்கவுரையை கற்றுத்துர மாணவர்களுக்கு எங்கு?, யார்?, எப்படி?, எங்கே? எப்போது கற்கப்படுகிறது என்ற வினாவிற்கு விடையாக உளவியலாளர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர். கற்றலானது மனித வளர்ச்சியில் பிறப்பு முதல் இறப்புவரை நடந்தேறி வருகின்றது.
