செவ்விலக்கியத்து எட்டுத்தொகை நூல்களில் ஒன்றான கலித்தொகையின் 74ஆம் பாடலது முதல் நான்கு அடிகள் உணர்த்தும் உள்ளுறைப் பொருளைத் தெளிவாக விளக்குவது இக் கட்டுரையின் நோக்கம் ஆகும். பாடலில் உள்ள 'கொட்டை' எதைக் குறிக்கிறது என்ற தெளிவைப் பெற்று; பாடல் சுவையை முழுமையாகத் துய்க்க இவ் ஆய்வு தேவை ஆகிறது. விளக்க முறை ஆய்விற்கு உட்படும் மேற் குறிப்பிட்ட பாடல் அடிகள் முதன்மைத் தரவாக அமைய; பிற தொகை நூற் கருத்துகள், நச்சினார்க்கினியர், பொ.வே.சோமசுந்தரனார் ஆகியோர் உரைகள், தாவரவியல் செய்திகள் ஆகியன துணைமைத் தரவுகளாக அமைகின்றன. பாடலின் 'கொட்டை' காட்டு ஆமணக்குப் பயிரைக் குறிக்கிறது. அது உரிப் பொருளை விளக்கி; உள்ளுறையைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள உதவுவதுடன்; கவிதையின் முருகியல் இன்பத்தில் மூழ்கவும் வழி வகுக்கிறது.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the ullurai present in the ll.1-4 of the hymn-74 in Kaliththokai; an anthology amongst Ettuthokai; which is a component in chevvilakkiyam. It's needed to understand the meaning of the term ‘kottai’ in the right sense so that; the overall aesthetic beauty of the song is being enjoyed. The specific lines in the above mentioned song form the primary source. The views of the commentators viz. Nachinarkiniyar and Po.Ve.Soma suntharanaar, other anthologies and the biological facts serve as the secondary sources. The meaning of the term 'kottai' in the specific hymn is found to be aamanakku (Jatropha curcas). It plays a vital part in understanding the uripporul; deriving the meaning for ullurai; which is instrumental in bringing out the aesthetic beauty.
