@article{மு. கயல்விழி_2020, place={India}, title={கலை வளர்த்த தேவரடியார்கள்: Devaradiyar-the art developers}, volume={6}, url={https://inamtamil.com/journal/article/view/180}, abstractNote={<p><strong>முன்னுரை</strong><strong>:</strong></p> <p>“மாதர் தம்மை இழிவு செய்யும்</p> <p>    மடமையைக் கொளுத்துவோம்”</p> <p>என்றான் பாரதி. அந்த அளவுக்கு அவன் வாழ்ந்த காலத்திலும் அதற்கு முன்பும் பெண்கள் இழிவு படுத்தப்பட்டனர். இந்தப் புன்மையைக் கண்டுதான் மனம் பொறாமல் அவன் பொங்கி எழுந்தான். இன்று சமுதாயத்தின் தூண்களாகக் கருதப்படும் பெண்கள் தொடர்ந்து இழிவும் அவமானமும் படுத்தப்பட்டனர். இந்த அவமானத்தின் சின்னங்களாகத்தான் தேவரடியார் முறை திகழ்ந்து வந்தது. இந்தியா முழுவதும் பரவலாகக் காணப்பட்ட இம்முறை தமிழகத்தில் சிறப்பாகக் கடைபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. தேவரடியார்களுக்கு இச்சமூகம் மிகுந்த  அநீதியை இழைத்துள்ளது.</p> <p>      இடைக்காலத் தமிழ்ச் சமுதாயத்தில் தேவரடியார்களின் பங்கு இன்றியமையாததாகும். அவர்கள் திருக்கோயில்களில் பணியாற்றிப் பக்தர்களுக்கும் தொண்டர்களுக்கும் அருளாளர்களுக்கும் கலையின்பத்தை வாரி வழங்கினர். அவர்களே நுண்கலைகளின் புகலிடங்களாகவும் திகழ்ந்தனர். தமிழ்ச் சமய வரலாற்றிலிருந்து அவர்களைப் பிரித்துப் பார்க்க இயலவில்லை. தமிழர்களின் திருக்கோயில் செயல்பாடுகளில் அவர்களின் பங்களிப்பு அளப்பரியது. அவர்களைப் பற்றியும் அவர்கள் ஆற்றிய பணிகள் பற்றியும் ஏராளமான கல்வெட்டுகள் புகழ்ந்துரைக்கின்றன. எனவே தேவரடியார்களைப் பற்றி இக்கட்டுரை ஆராய்கின்றது.</p> <p><strong>Abstract: </strong>Devaradiyar system was a practise which was followed during the mediaeval period of Tamil Nadu. They were the women whom dedicated their life for Siva and Vaishnava temples. Number of devaradiyars were served in the temples which was exposed by the inscriptions. They were skilled in art such like Dance, Music and Drama and developed it for centuries. Some women married and some other unmarried and they followed the practise “Pottu Kattuthal”. The Tamil kings honoured them by giving the title of “Thalaikkoli”. Devaradiyars gave huge donations to the temples and served for welfare of the society. They also availed more privileges at that time. But course of time due to various problems and downfalls they lost their honour and struggled for their livelihood. In course of time they were called as “Devadasis” and “Dasis”.
