Scholars have accepted the fact that there were divisions based on the occupation; but hesitate to accept that rigid communal segregation prevailed in the early Tamil society. This study reveals the communal distinctions getting prominent during the period of the anthologies. To follow a sociological approach, in this article those poems of the anthologies in which the above mentioned three words are found serve as the primary source; the other lyrics, views of the researchers and the stone inscriptions serve as the secondary source.</span></p>}, number={28}, journal={இனம்: பல்துறைப் பன்னாட்டு இணையத் தமிழாய்விதழ் (Inam: Multidisciplinary International E-Journal of Tamil Studies)}, author={S.Kanmani Ganesan}, year={2021}, month={Nov.}, pages={11–18} }
